There is endless discourse and percepts about mind, even body, control in the current anti-environment, yet the concept of the soul seems to be lost or merely laughed at. It is strange, because all philosophy [from the Greek φιλοσοπηος (philόsophos, “loving knowledge”)] until the 19th century dealt with the soul first and foremost. It sorta begins with Kant, though in many senses him and Hegel both were pure Christian theorists. Kant was talking about the primacy of the soul when he said that time and space are mere “forms of intuition”. Enlightenment science and thought had focused on the primacy of the universe (space and time) itself over the soul, so we can comfortably say by reacting against this Kant was a (one of many that unfold via past/present/future, Father/Son/Holy Ghost, grammar/logic/rhetoric, mind/body/soul) return to Christ. Kant waxed endlessly on the ideas of God, the infinite, essence, being, metaphysics; the truly saintly subjects of every book that exists in every culture. As we all are, Kant was both a great and horrible Christian apologist. He regarded the Christian Gospel as a genuine, divine revelation, while at the same time got caught up in debunking the Word via worldly knowledge. It’s the same game or code that is running on us today, the conflation of proof with substantiation (addiction to magic(k)), but we will get into that later.
